EWR plans to build a massive, 24/7 industrial Train Care Centre (TCC) right on our doorstep. Together, we can fight the Development Consent Order (DCO) and protect our villages.

East West Rail’s consultation has identified the Great Wilbraham side of Fulbourn as their preferred location for a major eastern maintenance hub. This is a heavy industrial railway yard placed next to rural communities.
Continuous industrial floodlighting, vehicle cleaning, and heavy mechanical maintenance running through the night.
Storage, shunting, and idling space for trains up to 250 meters long, running parallel to local countryside.
Thousands of heavy HGVs slated to route continuously through narrow, historic local village roads during construction.
| Impact Category | The Reality For Our Community |
|---|---|
| Noise & Light Pollution | Trains arriving and departing at peak rest hours. Constant high-intensity facility lighting overriding the dark skies of our rural edge. |
| Traffic Gridlock | All years of construction traffic are projected to route directly via Great Wilbraham (Mill Road, High Street, Frog End, Station Road). |
| Environmental Loss | Industrializing greenfield land, disrupting local wildlife corridors (including deer and bird populations), and altering village character forever. |
The Campaign's Position: We support sustainable infrastructure, but we completely reject the "reverse engineering" of site assessments that forced a massive industrial yard onto a quiet, historic rural village. EWR must evaluate alternative, lower-impact brownfield sites.
